The "Torracchione"

Archaeological Museum

Type: Reperti archeologici
Room: Reperti archeologici

Description

The other interesting evidence included in this showcase comes from an ancient settlement identified at Torracchione, near Barberino di Mugello. These are a series of iron items probably pertaining to a piece of furniture, thus to a trunk or chest. Two of these items, particularly number 5 and number 7, are very recognizable. The first is the large, drilled, iron key with a rectilinear barrel and rectangular "U" shaped ingenuity. The second is the rectangular-shaped sheet metal equipped with holes at the four ends for fastening, but also with the space for housing the key and, on the right, a rectangular-shaped hole for housing the boncinello , i.e., the outer hinge that was used for locking the caisson.
