Purified clay pottery

Archaeological Museum

Type: Reperti archeologici
Room: Reperti archeologici

Description

In the upper stratigraphy of the excavation, a large number of sherds of depurated tableware pottery were recovered. You will find them in this showcase indicated by numbers ranging from 16 to 27. In many cases, such pottery must have been painted with linear banded decorations or phytomorphic motifs, that is, with plant motifs. This was a production that was widespread in the Po Valley area and well attested between the late 6th and throughout the 5th century B.C. in inland northern Etruria, particularly in Mugello and Middle Valdarno. Precisely because of the finds that have been made at the site of I Monti, a precise place of production is now known of it.
