Description

We are looking at the oldest brand in Italy , in fact La Prinetti Stucchi & C. was a workshop Italian mechanical manufacturer of sewing machines, bicycles and motor vehicles, founded in Mi-lano in 1874 by Giulio Prinetti and Augusto Stucchi. In 1892 it began the production of bicycles, which was joined by the production of motor tricycles and quadricycles from 1898. Ettore Bugatti was also employed by the company; before moving to France, he developed the Type 1 tricycle, equipped with a single-cylinder De Dion engine and Rochet-Schneider chassis. In 1899 the Prinetti Stucchi 4 Hp car was presented, equipped with two coupled single-cylinder engines and with which Bugatti himself won the Verona-Brescia-Mantova-Verona speed race. In 1901, following the appointment of Giulio Prinetti as Minister of Foreign Affairs, the company changed its name to "Stucchi & C." In-that same year the first motorcycle, a single-cylinder four-stroke, was presented. Automobile production ceased in 1906. In 1907 the Stucchi Prinetti family participated in the founding of the Adamello General Electric Company (GEA) for the development of hydroelectric plants. In 1910 it began participation with its own team in the cycling competition Giro d'Italia, winning with Alfonso Calzolari the sixth edition in 1914 and, after interruption for belli-ci events, the next one in 1919 with the great Costante Girardengo.
