Description

Example of an iron racing bicycle dating from the late 1800s. Characteristic was the front wheel that allowed for greater speed and longer distance travel . Ball bearings were introduced in the hubs and tangent spoke rims covered with rubber , which also made them very smooth and lighter than the earlier wooden rims . Outdated with the introduction of chain drive .
