Museum of Cycling Gino Bartali

Type:
Room: Bicicletta

Description

Bartali bicycle first edition , produced starting in 1949 for the newly formed Bartali team , by Gino himself , in collaboration with the Santamaria brothers of Novi Ligure . It mounts the Cervino gearbox , born from the evolution of the Nieddu brothers' Vittoria gearbox . This particular model has the derailleur of the Simplex multiplex , while the control of the tensioning arm and the rear derailleur were moved to the beam of the frame , where with two different levers the tension of the chain and the desired ratio were adjusted . Bartali would use this system until 1951 when on the eve of the Giro d'Italia he switched to the wire Campagnolo Gran Sport , which he used until 1954 .
