Description
The Ancora brand was founded in Milan in 1919.It was never very successful in the production of bicycles, but they were the inspiration for the production of motorcycles, such as the famous 175cc "Ancorina" presented at the Milan cycle and motorcycle show. Dini the founder of Ancora in 1933 sold the brand and factory to Umberto Dei who kept them alive for a few years .The bicycle shown here mounts iron rims because they were more economical, with removable covers and clamp brakes with return spring . It has the peculiarity of having only the rear brake with double tie rod that was thought to be more efficient at the expense of the front . Also of note is the system for greasing the hubs.
