Description

Legnano bicycle 1930s , belonged to Giulio Bartali , the younger brother of Gino , who died as a result of an accident during the bicycle race "targa Chiari" . It was June 14 , 1936 , along the descent of San Donato , a car did not respect the halt and caught Giulio who was coming downhill at high speed , died two days later in the hospital . Gino never got over the death of his brother , who he recounted was stronger than him both on the flat and downhill , he risked giving up cycling and are thanks to his family and his faith returned to racing . He never gave up his brother's bike , which he jealously preserved until 1996 when he decided to donate it to our association . The bicycle mounts the Vittoria gearbox first version , without diverters . The lever in fact served only to remove tension from the chain , so that the rider could move , with his fingers , the chain to the desired ratio , then make tension to the chain and resume pedaling . The stand on which it rests is a gift from the great Florentine cyclist by Roberto Poggiali
