Type:
Room: Il Viottolone
Description
The area to the left of the walkway, once occupied by the labyrinth, now has the serpentine driveway for the carriage traffic circle. The central pool of the labyrinth remains in this area, now surrounded by an elliptical flowerbed. The labyrinth was organized around a central elliptical space. Its shape was not random. These were the years when Galileo Galilei discovered the satellites of Jupiter, and it seems that they were specially created in memory of the orbits drawn by those planets.
