Description
Cambiagi, Soldini and Inghirami report on the mosaic. It is a reprise of the water jokes already in use in Castello, in the floor of the Tribolo cave (ca 1550-'60). Soldini recalls "the star, formed of stone and mosaic-like work in the center of which is observable a small manhole that is placed and raised ... Open that it is there fits a large blowpipe or nozzle from which, left free to the flow of water gushes out with great force a spring that for more than 40 fathoms rises"
